ABOUT THE THYROID TOP DOCTORS DIRECTORY
The following listing includes recommended doctors and practitioners for your thyroid care.
Please note that being listed here in the Thyroid Top Doctors Directory doesn't necessarily mean a doctor is the right one for you. The doctor may be an empathetic and warm physician, but not open to working with drugs like Armour or T3 drugs. Or the doctor may be quite costly and not on insurance programs. Always call the doctor's office ahead of time to find out more about the doctor's philosophy, approach, costs, and other important factors before going in for your first appointment.
Please let us know if you have feedback about doctors listed here, or would like to recommend your doctor.
Alpine
Dr. Jeff Wright Naturopath 70 East Red Pine Drive Alpine, Utah
801-756-9444.
A reader writes: "This doctor is great. He spent an hour with me on
my first visit going over different issues. He prescribes natural thyroid.
He is also good at suggesting other supplements and vitamins. He is
very knowledgeable and has an open mind. He is kind and treats you with
respect. I highly recommend him." (Added 4/03)
Draper
Dennis Harper -- NO LONGER LISTED (retired) Layton
Marc Anderson, Allergies/Family Practitioner, 2121 N 1700 W., Layton,
UT 84041, (801) 773-4840. "He will go out of his way to meet with other
top docs in the thyroid disease field to learn more about the disease
and the medications out there to treat it. He actually listens to you
and lets you unload all your problems and anxieties and will do all
that he can to help you rather than tell you that you have to live with
conditions. He sincerely wants to help his patients. He will treat you
not only from your tests but also from your symptoms. He's fantastic."
Another patient Recommends Dr. Anderson:
"Dr. Anderson treats you like you are a knowledgeable person. He
actually listens to you and believes what you tell him. He values your
opinion and is VERY open to new ideas and treatments. He treats me from
my symptoms since my tests come back normal, but it's painfully obvious
that I suffer from thyroidism. He is very kind and caring and what doctors
should be! He's truly great!" (Added 11/02)
Yet another reader writes:
"Dr Anderson really took an interest in my case. Within one visit he had me back on track to wellness.
He was familiar with all of my symptoms and knew how to treat them. He listened to every word I said,
without trying to put words into my mouth. He did in one visit what took two other DR's months to do.
I am thankful everyday for what he has done for me." (Added 6/05)
Another fan:

Phone: 801 475 6520, A reader writes: "He is SO concerned about the total health picture - not just what
the thyroid # is. He makes you feel like a real person with real health issues, not just another number
to run through his office. He knows the thyroid issue inside and out and explains it to you. I'm so glad
I found him." (Added: Dec. 04)
A reader writes:
"I have moved from Ogden, but I still make the 75 mile drive to see Dr. Kelson. He
is great! I have my entire family converted also. Several of us have had thyroid issues, depression issues,
etc. He never brushes you off. Always listens and will not quit looking for answers." (Added Apr

I would like to recommend a top doc! He is a pediatric endocrinologist.
His name is Rob Lindsey. He practices in Salt Lake City, Utah. My daughter
was born with a thyroid that doesn't work. He caught it whenshe was
only three days old. He not only took care of her but also her upset
mother! To me he is the greatest and I owe him alot. We live in southern
Utah now but still drive six hours to go to him! Salt Lake City

after years of unsuccessful treatment ......Dr Todd Mangum has provided

only thyroid patients. He is no longer dealing with diabetes patients, He is very knowledgeable and kind,
and takes the time to explain things. He is also very reassuring. I live in Ogden, but would drive even
further to be seen by Dr. Grua." (Added: June 2004)
Another recommendation:
"Best doctor I have been to by far. He gives his advice, but lets me make decisions about my own
treatment." (Added 10/05) Salt Lake City

with me! When I told him I wanted Armour Thyroid, he gave me a prescription for it and has tracked
my progress for months now. When I wasn't feeling so well, he did all sorts of tests to find out my
Armour needed tweaked a little bit. He is right on top of things and I feel like I am getting the best
possible care for my thyroid that is possible. He is open to me trying alternative things. He is always
willing to sit and talk about my problems. You just can't find a better doctor anywhere." (Added
6/05) Sandy

voice with him and he works with you as a team to obtain good health
and well-being." (Added 6/02).
Another reader writes:
"Dr. Potter treats the whole person - from my thyroid to every other part of my body. He will spend as
much time with you as needed. He will test anything that requires it and will fight with yuor insurance
compnay to get it tested. He is simply one of the BEST doctors I have ever had the pleasure to deal with.
He is currently trying to regulate my T3 properly. No other Dr has ever taken the time to do this. He
is simply wonderful!" (Added 6/05)

Why is a Particular Doctor No Longer Listed?
Doctors who were previously listed here are removed for a number of reasons.
1. The doctor has requested that his/her listings be removed because: he/she does not agree with this site’s philosophy or patient-orientation; the practice is too busy and can’t accept new patients; the doctor does not feel comfortable handling complicated thyroid problems; the doctor did not agree with what was said in the patient recommendations; or the doctor said “take me off the list” and offered no explanation.
2. The doctor has moved, retired, or died.
3. The doctor has lost his/her license, or given up his/her license, and is no longer practicing medicine.
4. Patients have provided negative input about the doctor that is of sufficient concern that, in the opinion of the editor, the doctor should no longer be on the Top Thyroid Doctors List.
Thyroid Top Doctors would face legal concerns if we published specific information about why patients had negative opinions about doctors, or if we shared a doctor’s occasional ranting ”take me off” email, or if we publicized doctors with licensing problems. So please, if you see that a doctor has been taken off the list and want to know why, talk to the doctor directly. If you write to us to ask why a doctor was taken off the list, we’re sorry, but we won’t be able to answer you or share that information.
