ABOUT THE THYROID TOP DOCTORS DIRECTORY
The following listing includes recommended doctors and practitioners for your thyroid care.
Please note that being listed here in the Thyroid Top Doctors Directory doesn't necessarily mean a doctor is the right one for you. The doctor may be an empathetic and warm physician, but not open to working with drugs like Armour or T3 drugs. Or the doctor may be quite costly and not on insurance programs. Always call the doctor's office ahead of time to find out more about the doctor's philosophy, approach, costs, and other important factors before going in for your first appointment.
Please let us know if you have feedback about doctors listed here, or would like to recommend your doctor.
Coldwater
Pravin Patel, MD General Practice 423 Central Ave. Coldwater, MS (662)
622-7011. This reader writes, "I had been on Synthroid for 7 years before seeing Dr. Patel and being
switched to Armour Thyroid by him. My husband had seen some new information about Synthroid levels
not being consistent and also that T3 was not included in any synthetic thyroid. I took this article to Dr.
Patel and he read it, told me that he PREFERS Armour thyroid and wanted me back in 3 months to
recheck my blood levels. Listened to my symptoms, did NOT dismiss me out-of-hand. My TSH was
70.65 the first time it was ever checked...by a dermatologist who was seeing me for something totally
unrelated!! Up to that point, for the years following the birth of my first child, I was told in so many
words that the weight gain and fatigue was my own fault. By the time it was diagnosed, I believed it. It
was such a refreshing change to see a physician who paid attention."
Corinth

holistic medicine preferring it to synthetic if possible. They believe in building you immune system as
routine treatment for what ever your diagnosis. When it comes to hormone replacement including Thyroid
they are the best in the state."
Jackson
Dr. Roger Collins, 1420 Old Square Rd., Jackson, MS 39211. 601-713-1145
"This Dr. put me on Armour after hearing of my lack of progress with Synthroid. He evaluated my test
results and based the treatment on my symptoms not just on my blood tests. He is very well versed in
Hypothyroidism and even recommended that I read several books on the subject. He is open to patient
input in the treatment and actually listens to what the patient has to says!"
Another reader writes:
"Treated me based on symptoms despite 'normal' TSH. Uses Armour by preference and
believes in increasing dosages until you feel well, not just by lab tests. I found his name from this
site, and can definitely second his recommendation as a top doc!" (Added Dec. 04) Jackson
Jeffrey LeDuff, Internal Medicine, Jackson Medical Clinic, 501 Marshall
Street, Jackson, Mississippi 39202, 601-352-2273. "Well educated in treating thyroid, believes monitoring
FT-3 and FT-4 is more important than just TSH. He was also willing to le me try T-4/T-3 combo."

Jackson, MS 39202, 601-352-4312. "Doctor Milam is an artist when it comes to precision and
realignment of the muscles when pertaining to Graves or Thyroid Eye Disease. I have experienced this
dreaded disease for 2+ years and he is a specialist who understand the depression and fear of what this
disease puts a patient through. A specialist who believes in helping the patient emotionally as well as
physically."
Jackson
David R Segrest Ophthalmic Plastic & Recon Surgery Disease and Surgery
of the Orbit 1421 N State St. #201 Jackson 601 355-9537. A reader writes: "After suffering from severe
TEDs disease with major cosmetic distortion due to lid retraction, protrusion and the eye positioning, Dr.
Segrest performed magic with the reconstruction from the orbit decompression. Then provided the
expertise and skill level in obtaining the lower muscle that had such a tight grip on the eye that it receded
beneath the lower bottom lid. Dr. Segrest gave me another chance at life without looking like the freak
that this disease enabled me. I have had 3 surgeries with Dr. Segrest and I cannot believe that through
it all, he has saved my vision and that was/is the most important thing. He is one of my heroes." (Added

Winona
Dr. Keith Rushing, Winona, MS 38967, (662-283-3060). A reader writes:
"Dr. Rushing was kind enough to agree to look over the information I had re: Wilson's Syndrome. After
explaining to me that he had never done anything like this before, he agreed to help me. He has been
treating me for just shy of a year. I have never felt this good since becoming ill. He is very understanding
and I feel he is worthy of being listed as a Top Doc."
Why is a Particular Doctor No Longer Listed?
Doctors who were previously listed here are removed for a number of reasons.
1. The doctor has requested that his/her listings be removed because: he/she does not agree with this site’s philosophy or patient-orientation; the practice is too busy and can’t accept new patients; the doctor does not feel comfortable handling complicated thyroid problems; the doctor did not agree with what was said in the patient recommendations; or the doctor said “take me off the list” and offered no explanation.
2. The doctor has moved, retired, or died.
3. The doctor has lost his/her license, or given up his/her license, and is no longer practicing medicine.
4. Patients have provided negative input about the doctor that is of sufficient concern that, in the opinion of the editor, the doctor should no longer be on the Top Thyroid Doctors List.
Thyroid Top Doctors would face legal concerns if we published specific information about why patients had negative opinions about doctors, or if we shared a doctor’s occasional ranting ”take me off” email, or if we publicized doctors with licensing problems. So please, if you see that a doctor has been taken off the list and want to know why, talk to the doctor directly. If you write to us to ask why a doctor was taken off the list, we’re sorry, but we won’t be able to answer you or share that information.
