Please note that being listed here in the Thyroid Top Doctors Directory doesn't necessarily mean a doctor is the right one for you. The doctor may be an empathetic and warm physician, but not open to working with drugs like Armour or T3 drugs. Or the doctor may be quite costly and not on insurance programs. Always call the doctor's office ahead of time to find out more about the doctor's philosophy, approach, costs, and other important factors before going in for your first appointment.

A reader shares, "Perdon tiena mal el direccion. Esta es la buena. Yo he hido a 6 diferentes doctores desde 1995 y todos han sido insensibles a mis problemas. Uno de ellos hasta queria operarme de un supusto tumor en el craneo, que no tenia. Otro queria aumentar mi medicamento cuando yo explicaba que la cantidad era muy alta y que estaba teniendo taquicardias, el me dijo que tenia que aumentar el cantidad y que con el tiempo me aconstumbraria a ello. Cuando yo conteste que no pensaba que la cantidad era la adecuada para mi el contesto,"quien cres que eres, yo estudie para mi titulo de Dr., y tu, que?" Despues encontre a la Dra. Cobo. Era amiga de una amiga mia, fui con ella y desde primera consulta encontre una amiga que explicaba cada paso, sus palabras son, "vamos a tratarte por 3 meses con medicina alternativa, si tu cuerpo acepta el medicamento, hay una posibllidad de curacion, o por lo menos te vas a sentir mucho mejor". Y as fue, me siento 100% mejor, y he podido bajar de peso. Es especial." (I have had six different doctors since 1995, and all have been insensitive to my problems. One of them wanted to operate on a brain tumor I didn't have. Another wanted to increase my medicine when I explained that the quantity was too high and that I was having rapid heartbeat, he told me that the quantity was adequate and that in tinme, I would get used to it. When I answered that I didn't think the quantity was right, he told me, "who do you think you are? I studied for my title of doctor, and you, what?" Dr. Cobo was friend of a friend, and since the first consultation her words were "we're going to treat you for 3 months with alternative medicine, if your body accepts the medication, there is a posibility of cure, or at least you are going to feel much better. And, as it was, I felt 100% better, and I could lose weight. She's special.)

Among the endocrinologist field, he was the most wonderful doctor, not looking for any kind of profit and extremely honest. He had enough experience to explain and treat what I have. He is the best endocrinologist on the southeast Mexico." (Added 11/02)

Why is a Particular Doctor No Longer Listed?

Doctors who were previously listed here are removed for a number of reasons.

1. The doctor has requested that his/her listings be removed because: he/she does not agree with this site’s philosophy or patient-orientation; the practice is too busy and can’t accept new patients; the doctor does not feel comfortable handling complicated thyroid problems; the doctor did not agree with what was said in the patient recommendations; or the doctor said “take me off the list” and offered no explanation.
2. The doctor has moved, retired, or died.
3. The doctor has lost his/her license, or given up his/her license, and is no longer practicing medicine.
4. Patients have provided negative input about the doctor that is of sufficient concern that, in the opinion of the editor, the doctor should no longer be on the Top Thyroid Doctors List.

Thyroid Top Doctors would face legal concerns if we published specific information about why patients had negative opinions about doctors, or if we shared a doctor’s occasional ranting ”take me off” email, or if we publicized doctors with licensing problems. So please, if you see that a doctor has been taken off the list and want to know why, talk to the doctor directly. If you write to us to ask why a doctor was taken off the list, we’re sorry, but we won’t be able to answer you or share that information.
