ABOUT THE THYROID TOP DOCTORS DIRECTORY
The following listing includes recommended doctors and practitioners for your thyroid care.
Please note that being listed here in the Thyroid Top Doctors Directory doesn't necessarily mean a doctor is the right one for you. The doctor may be an empathetic and warm physician, but not open to working with drugs like Armour or T3 drugs. Or the doctor may be quite costly and not on insurance programs. Always call the doctor's office ahead of time to find out more about the doctor's philosophy, approach, costs, and other important factors before going in for your first appointment.
Please let us know if you have feedback about doctors listed here, or would like to recommend your doctor.

me to participate in my treatment choices, willingly shares copies of
lab reports, and calls me personally to discuss lab results. His help
and good judgment have restored me to feeling wonderful on a dual-hormone
thyroid replacement."
Another recommendation for Dr. Christensen:
"I was impressed with his breadth of knowledge, willingness to discuss my case and offer treatment
options. I have never felt better and feel like I am at optimal health. I highly recommend Dr. Christensen
to anyone who wants answers to their concerns and who wants someone to take the time to listen. He and
his staff are terrific!" (Added 10/05) Boise

how I'm feeling. He worked as a team with my OB during my pregnancy,
sharing test results and keeping a close eye on my health. I have been
under his care for about 3 years now and thanks to him and his terrific
staff, I have never felt better. They are the best!"
Another reader writes:
"Dr. Roosevelt is fantastic. He is the only doctor I have met who
is conversant with current acceptable levels of TSH and will treat towards
a goal instead of just treating to a lab test. His therapy and willingness
to listen has made a great change in my life." (Added 4/04)
NOTE: Some patients are reporting that Dr. Roosevelt may push for Synthroid, and relies heavily on
TSH for diagnosis. (June 2005) Eagle
Dan Reed, MD, GP, Primary Health, Idaho, 208-939-8200 A reader writes:
"Dr Reed has been very understanding, supportive and helpful. He listens and agrees to try things that

Celso Chavez, MD, 1522 17th Street, Lewiston, ID 83501, 208-743-8416.
A reader writes: "He moved to Lewiston about ten years ago, coming into
the family practice group that I was in. He was not a believer, but
after talking to him, he began taking thyroid. He is the one of two
family practice doctors that I would consider going to in town, except
the other one does not use thyroid. He is in his mid fifties so he will
be around for some time." Pocatello
Dr. Jean Bokelmann Family Practice 465 Memorial Drive Pocatello, ID
83201 (208) 282-4700. A reader writes: "Dr. Bokelmann is by far, the
most exceptional physician I've yet to come across. This exemplary professional
treats the 'whole person' and her philosophy of care is one that encompasses
empathy, respect and intellectual/innovative treatment approaches. I
am continuously astounded by the amount of time and energies she unwaveringly
devotes towards helping her patients find healing and wellness. There
is a sense of genuine caring and devotion to be found in her, that is
unparalleled by others in her field. This woman reads her research and
is up to date on promising breakthroughs and non-conventional treatments
that surpass the realms of general family practice. I have yet to meet
any fellow client who also doesn't rave about her quality of care, sunny
personality, and simple kindness and sincerity that she radiates. I
am truly fortunate to have been under her care and I would recommend
her to anyone that seeks the epitome of excellence in a healthcare provider.
Dr. Jean resets the standards for medical field, through her keen intellect
and expertise, empathetic attitude and collaborative approach towards
healing her clients. She truly IS a healer for both mind and body."

Why is a Particular Doctor No Longer Listed?
Doctors who were previously listed here are removed for a number of reasons.
1. The doctor has requested that his/her listings be removed because: he/she does not agree with this site’s philosophy or patient-orientation; the practice is too busy and can’t accept new patients; the doctor does not feel comfortable handling complicated thyroid problems; the doctor did not agree with what was said in the patient recommendations; or the doctor said “take me off the list” and offered no explanation.
2. The doctor has moved, retired, or died.
3. The doctor has lost his/her license, or given up his/her license, and is no longer practicing medicine.
4. Patients have provided negative input about the doctor that is of sufficient concern that, in the opinion of the editor, the doctor should no longer be on the Top Thyroid Doctors List.
Thyroid Top Doctors would face legal concerns if we published specific information about why patients had negative opinions about doctors, or if we shared a doctor’s occasional ranting ”take me off” email, or if we publicized doctors with licensing problems. So please, if you see that a doctor has been taken off the list and want to know why, talk to the doctor directly. If you write to us to ask why a doctor was taken off the list, we’re sorry, but we won’t be able to answer you or share that information.
