Please note that being listed here in the Thyroid Top Doctors Directory doesn't necessarily mean a doctor is the right one for you. The doctor may be an empathetic and warm physician, but not open to working with drugs like Armour or T3 drugs. Or the doctor may be quite costly and not on insurance programs. "Aloha! I wanted tell about my TOP DOC. His name is Dr. Dukee Kim and his door says "Internal Medicine." His phone number is (808) 946-2442 and is he located in Honolulu, HI. Over a year and a half ago, I was in my car, trying to find parking in Waikiki on a Saturday night. This is no easy feat, but I've done it a million times and never really stressed about it. As I was driving, my heart started racing and pounding, I was totally disoriented, and all my muscles felt like they were seizing up. I was terrified. I somehow drove myself to a hospital specializing in the treatment of women and children. I don't remember getting there. After waiting what was in my opinion, too long, I finally saw a doctor there. They noticed my heart going really fast and said that I had an anxiety attack. They gave me a prescription for Xanax and sent me home. No blood tests or anything. The next day I called my doctor and set up an appointment. I've been seeing him since I was 15 and I tell him everything. I was perfectly willing to believe the anxiety thing. Why not? I was under a lot of stress at the time. I told him about the car and that my period was 3 months late. He did a whole series of blood tests and discovered hyperthyroidism. This may not sound very extraordinary, but I've talked to a whole bunch of people who go from shrink to shrink to shrink for years before someone thinks to check blood, and my doc caught it at the first sign. He listens to me, explains things to me, asks about the stress levels in my life. He actually pays attention, which is more than I can say about my endo. :-) "

Dr. Seberg takes an active interest in all his patients. When I asked if he would consider switching me from Synthroid to Armour, he immediately agreed. Saying that he has no problem switching his thyroid patients to whatever meds work for them. He believes in treating the symptoms. He opening admits when he does not have the answers and goes to his sources for advice. Recently I asked to have the dosage increased because I was so fatigued, without hesitation he doubled it. I highly recommend Dr. Seberg, not only for thyroid problems, but any problems that you would want an internist to take a look at. He's great."

He listens completely to symptoms and is willing to go with the best treatment for the individual and he uses the numbers as a gauge and no absolute. He discovered my hypothyroidism and often tests for the condition as he believes it to be much greater problem that often goes undetected. I would never have known to ask for the test. He has been researching the disease for the last ten years and is up on all the latest. He is also a great all around doc and I highly recommend him. Oh and the best thing is you don't have to make an appointment -- since he is also urgent care you can just pop in 7 days a week from 8 am to 8 pm. Two days a week there is a great nurse practitioner. I rarely have to wait for more t!han 15 minutes. Truly a great find!"

Kauai

Why is a Particular Doctor No Longer Listed?

Doctors who were previously listed here are removed for a number of reasons.

1. The doctor has requested that his/her listings be removed because: he/she does not agree with this site’s philosophy or patient-orientation; the practice is too busy and can’t accept new patients; the doctor does not feel comfortable handling complicated thyroid problems; the doctor did not agree with what was said in the patient recommendations; or the doctor said “take me off the list” and offered no explanation.
2. The doctor has moved, retired, or died.
3. The doctor has lost his/her license, or given up his/her license, and is no longer practicing medicine.
4. Patients have provided negative input about the doctor that is of sufficient concern that, in the opinion of the editor, the doctor should no longer be on the Top Thyroid Doctors List.

Thyroid Top Doctors would face legal concerns if we published specific information about why patients had negative opinions about doctors, or if we shared a doctor’s occasional ranting ”take me off” email, or if we publicized doctors with licensing problems. So please, if you see that a doctor has been taken off the list and want to know why, talk to the doctor directly. If you write to us to ask why a doctor was taken off the list, we’re sorry, but we won’t be able to answer you or share that information.
